Yay Chili Dogs!
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008A few months ago, Castleberry’s Chili Dog chili disappeared off the shelves of the local grocery stores. After I managed not to locate any three or four times, I asked a convenient stockboy what the deal was. Apparently, there was some sort of salmonella outbreak at the Castleberry factory or something, so they recalled all of their product. Bah, says I. A little salmonella now and then is good for and weeds out the weak.
Every couple of weeks I went to the canned meat aisle to see if nummy chili goodness had been returned to me. Most stores had given over its spot on the shelf to other canned meat food products. I thought that was cold.
Anyhoo, today I’m at the store, unsure of what I want for supper. “Chili dogs” whispers the part of my brain that likes chili dogs, but I despair in the knowledge that there is no more decent chili available. I go look anyway, for I am thorough.
Lo, and behold! Castleberry’s Chili Dog chili hath returnethed. Huzzah!
So, today is a good day.
I just hope they didn’t “reformulate” it.
